Learning from Thich Nhat Hanh and Meister Eckhart

A Five-Weekend Course with Father Brian Pierce

Brian PierceIn this five-weekend course, Dominican Friar Brian Pierce will acquaint you with the medieval Christian mystic Meister Eckhart and contemporary Zen master Thich Nhat Hanh. Enroll now in this course and learn about the common spiritual ground that exists between Christianity and Buddhism. Each weekend begins on Friday at 7:30 p.m. and concludes at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday. You may attend the entire course, or select specific weekends to attend. You may also register as a commuter.

The dates are:

  • January 26-28 – Magnanimity: Learning the Art of Dialogue
  • February 23-25 – Mindfulness and the Eternal Now
  • March 23-25 – The Breath of the Holy Spirit
  • April 20-22 – Living from the Ground of Being
  • May 25-27 – Compassion, Suffering & Love in Full Bloom

Friday

4:00 to 5:45 Check in and settle into cabins

4:45 p.m. Afternoon Meditation – Meditation Chapel

6:00 p.m. Supper

7:30 to 8:30 Welcome, Introductions, First Session – Bede Building

Saturday

7:00 a.m. Morning Meditation – Meditation Chapel

7:45 a.m. Breakfast in silence

9:30 a.m. Second Session – Bede Building

10:30 a.m. Break

11:00 a.m. Walking Meditation (Outdoors if possible)

12:00 p.m. Noon Meditation – Meditation Chapel

12:30 p.m. Lunch – Rest

2:30 p.m. Third Session – Bede Building

3:30 p.m. Afternoon Break and Time for Contemplation

4:45 p.m. Afternoon Meditation – Meditation Chapel

6:00 p.m. Supper

7:30 p.m. Fourth Session – Bede Building – 20 minute sit, followed by “sharing the fruits of the day’s contemplation” – Meditation Chapel

Sunday

9:00 a.m. Concluding Session – Bede Building

10:30 a.m. Catholic Mass – Meditation Chapel

March 30-April 1, 2018: Landscapes and Soulscapes Retreat

Landscapes and Soulscapes: A Camino Divina Adventure into the Divine will help you explore in greater depth a richer, deeper relationship with the land, the self and the Divine. You will be provided with thoughtful and joyful practices that can help you connect more deeply wherever you find yourself, whether at home or abroad.

Through the practice of “camino divina―walking the divine way,” inner and outer landscapes will be explored through intuitive observation and imagination, journaling, conversational partnering, finger labyrinths and walking meditation, accompanied by the words of poets and sages to walk alongside you.

Gina Marie Mammano PhotoGina Marie Mammano is an award-winning poet and the author of Camino Divina- Walking the Divine Way: A Book of Moving Meditations with Likely and Unlikely Saints. Her training as a spiritual director, work as a retreat leader, Waldorf educator, Reiki practitioner, and work with the Opening the Book of Nature program have allowed her the ability to create interactive, artful, deep and intuitive events that work within both the interior and exterior landscapes. She lives on Whidbey Island, Washington.
