The Brother Norman Sustain The Forest Fund
“To touch the hearts of students is the greatest miracle you can perform.” -St. John Baptist de La Salle, patron saint of teachers (1651-1719)
Dear Bishop Kelley Alum:
Decades of Bishop Kelley High School alumni were deeply influenced by the life and teaching of Brother Norman McCarthy, FSC, who served at BK from 1992 until his death in 2008. For many, Brother Norman’s Belief and Spirituality class opened their hearts and minds to explore the depths of their faith and understanding of discipleship.
Brother Norman touched the hearts of faculty, staff, students and parents. He was widely beloved, especially by the members of his Men’s Forum group (which became the model for the Women’s Forum group). He introduced many of his students and fellow faculty to the practice of contemplative prayer in the Christian tradition and also to a special place in his faith development and interfaith understanding: The Osage Forest of Peace in Sand Springs, OK.
The Forest of Peace was dear to Brother’s heart. Founded as a Benedictine monastery in 1979, it continues today as a nonprofit retreat center governed by an interfaith board of directors. The Forest offers hospitality, retreats, workshops and contemplative prayer opportunities to all who seek to deepen their spiritual practice. Mass is offered once a month in the main chapel, and Eucharistic Adoration is available 24 hours in the Sr. Pascaline Coff Chapel.
In memory of Brother Norman, would you be willing to donate to the Forest of Peace, so it can continue to serve those who seek spiritual growth and practice here? The needs of the Forest are relatively simple, but the work of the Forest—which Brother Norman delighted in sharing–cannot be sustained without contributions from friends.
Please check out our website, or call 918-245-2734 to schedule a visit to The Forest. You may donate with PayPal online. Or send your check, payable to Forest of Peace, to 141 Monastery Road, Sand Springs, OK 74063. Designate checks to the Brother Norman Fund. Please consider a $5000, $1000, $100, $50 or $25 donation. Or consider making a monthly donation. Whatever amount is right for you, your gift will be stewarded well.
Thank you for helping sustain the mission of The Forest in memory of Brother Norman. Blessings to you from The Forest!

Osage Forest of Peace provides an opportunity for people to come and live in harmony with the resident community for a month-long immersion experience. More and more people want to live in a contemplative manner in the world, but they may need assistance in learning how to live this way. Here at the Forest of Peace, we can provide you with that opportunity through our Residential Immersion Program.
The Residential Immersion Program consists of the following:
– Immersion into the resident community’s daily prayer and meditation schedule
– Daily work practice
– Regular spiritual direction (if desired)
– Opportunities to participate in a variety of contemplative retreats
– Opportunity to experience the beauty of the Forest and to hike our trails
Residency Rate: $1,000 per month for a standard cabin; $1,200 for the Guest Hermitage. This reduced rate is offered in exchange for two to three hours of work per day within the community.
Multiple month residencies may be available, subject to cabin availability. Partial residencies of two to three weeks are also available at a pro-rated cost.
Email us at firstname.lastname@example.org for an application form. Acceptance in the Residential Immersion program requires a completed application, essay, reference check, and interview.
